Every How-To article I write will contain a difficulty rating (DR).
The scale will be a number from 1 to 5 (1 being lowest) because I decided that this scale would suit the articles best.
Here's what each number means: 1 - This one is obviously the easiest. A DR of 1 involves very little work and you probably wont get very dirty. The job will probably not be to time consuming as it will take somewhere between 5 minutes and two hours. Something like an aftermarket seat install or another EF cluster swap would be a 1. 2 - A DR of 2 will be more work and might take more time. You might have to crawl under the car and you'll probably get dirty. A lowering spring install would be a 2. 3 - A three will be much more work and take more time (obviously), but it will still just be bolting stuff up (no fab work required). A D-series swap would be a 3. 4 - Fours will be very similar to threes but will require some light fab work. Maybe some modification to something or something small might have to be made. I would consider my B20 with ITR tranny and B20Z IM to be a 4. 5 - Fives will be few and far between. To be honest I probably wouldn't write an article with a DR of 5 because if someone was going to do it they would know what they were doing in the first place. A five would require fab skills, patience and a lot of time. An H22 or K20 EF would be a 5, a MR CRX would be a 5, a roll cage would be a 5, etc. There you have it. 1-4 are fairly close in difficulty and five is out there. I will use .5s at my discretion. |
