Endurance Racing Preparation

This is my checklist of things to do before starting an endurance racing team.
Car - Prep
- Pick a class
- Purchase the car
- Verify safety equipment:
- Roll cage
- Driver seat
- Passenger seat for coaching, possibly removable
- Harnesses (in date)
- Harness mounting (eyebolts)
- Roll cage padding (driver & passenger)
- Fire system (charged)
- Window net
- Center net
- Kill switch in reach of driver
- Battery bracket & terminal covers
- No sharp edges
- Numbers & class letters
- Inspect/replace maintenance/wear parts:
- Radiator
- Radiator ducting (top, bottom, sides)
- Radiator hoses
- Oil, coolant, power steering, brake fluid leaks
- Hubs & wheel bearings
- Brake caliper pistons moving freely
- Flush brake fluid
- Install race brake pads, new rotors
- Install communications:
- Radio & radio box
- Antenna
- PTT button
- Helmet wiring harness
- Install gauges:
- Oil pressure
- Water temp
- Warning lights
- Install convenience items/gear:
- Large center mirror
- Side spot mirrors
- Helmet hook
- Check fuel tank fill hole size
- Clutch switch interlock bypass
Car - Testing
Car should be tested on the tires it intends to race on.
- Verify harnesses are properly adjusted
- Verify good vision out of the car (side & rear)
- Verify no fuel starvation on nearly empty fuel tank
- Verify shifts are smooth and correct
- Verify braking is even left to right
- Verify car balance is as desired
Post Testing
- Inspect tire wear
- Inspect brake pad wear
